THE COACH
About James
I’m an ECB Level 4 cricket coach with over 20 years of coaching experience, including 18 years at Lord’s Cricket Ground, where I also spent the last 5 years as Head Coach. My time at Lord’s allowed me to work with thousands of players across all levels, from young children discovering the game for the first time to athletes preparing for pathway, county and professional cricket.
Beyond Lord’s, I have coached across the Middlesex county pathway, club cricket, school programmes, and within regional cricket in Hertfordshire. These experiences have shaped my coaching approach and strengthened the purpose behind JF Coaching, to support each player’s personal development, whatever their goals.
JF Coaching is owned and led by me, James Fielding, an ECB Level 4 coach specialising in fast bowling and batting, with broad expertise across all key disciplines including spin bowling, wicketkeeping, and fielding.
I created JF Coaching out of a genuine passion for cricket and a desire to share that passion with others. My aim is to inspire players of all ages and abilities to maximise their potential. At JF Coaching, the focus goes beyond technical skills — we strive to develop confident, resilient individuals and create environments where players feel challenged, supported, and excited to grow.
JF Coaching Philosophy
At JF Cricket Coaching, I take immense pride in helping players achieve their goals, no matter how long the journey or how small each step of progress may be. Coaching, to me, is about developing better people as well as better cricketers, and I am committed to supporting players of all ages and abilities.
I focus on using the most effective coaching methods for each individual or group, ensuring players understand their development and take ownership of their growth. This ongoing challenge is one I truly enjoy. To make this possible, I work hard to create an environment where the player always comes first, an environment that is:
