James has been coaching my two sons, now aged 13 and 11, since May 2023, and I can recommend him without reservation. James is an ECB Level 4 coach and, until very recently, Head Coach at Lord’s, and his experience is evident in every session. He has an exceptional ability to work with cricketers of all ages, translating complex technical concepts into clear, manageable steps that young players can readily understand and apply. Sessions are well structured, engaging, and enjoyable, with rapid and noticeable improvement across batting, spin bowling, and seam bowling.

From a technical perspective, James is outstanding. He can quickly identify flaws in a bowling action that lead to inconsistency or potential injury and break down and rebuild that action effectively, often within a session or two. His batting coaching goes well beyond mechanics; he teaches players how to score runs, where scoring opportunities lie, and how to build an innings intelligently based on field placements and match situations. Importantly, James also places a strong emphasis on the mental side of the game. Throughout sessions he speaks to the players about resilience, decision-making, game awareness and mindset, using a warm and encouraging style that prioritises long-term development and learning over short-term results.

As a direct result of the progress made under James’s coaching, both boys are now part of performance academies and representative teams. Just as importantly, they remain highly motivated and enthusiastic about their cricket and look forward to every session. James delivers elite-level technical coaching alongside an approach to player development that is exactly what young cricketers need to thrive.
